About the Scientific Institute of Pedagogy

Status

The Institute at the Faculty of Education and Psychology (from 29 March 2010, at the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art of the University of Latvia, the UL Senate's decision No. 350 on 29 March 2010) was founded in accordance with the UL Senate's decision No. 283 on 29 January 2007. The Scientific Institute of Pedagogy is structural unit of the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art of the University of Latvia (UL FEPA SIP). It cooperates actively within the Center of Humanities and Education Sciences (HES) of the University of Latvia.

Mission

T he mission of the activities of the Scientific Institute of Pedagogy at the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art of the University of Latvia (UL FEPA SIP) is to conduct high-quality scientific research, taking into consideration the current needs of Latvian individuals and entire society and implement the results of the research in the study process, in working practice of educational institutions and other institutions.
 

Aim

The main aim of the Institute is quality assurance of the fundamental and applied research in different sub-fields of pedagogy; integration of research results in academic education; preparation of high-skilled young scientists and popularization of theoretical and empirical research findings in Latvian society in order to promote humane education and development of human potential in the context of lifelong learning.

Structure

The structure of the Institute is formed in accordance with the main research directions of the Institute taking into account the available resources. Institute's structure includes various project and thematic groups, etc. Institute's structure is proposed by the Head of the Institute and approved by the Scientific Council of the Institute.
