From December 1 to Decembrer 7 the five representatives of the University of Latvia prof. Irina Maslo, senior researchers Rita Birziņa, Tamāra Pīgozne, Ieva Margeviča-Grinberga and researcher Egija Laganovska participated in the meetings within the SPEdu and eSTEM projects at Ain Shams University (Kairo, Egypt) as well as in the ICT-Learn 2017 11th International Conference and Exhibition on e-Learning and Education Technology "Towards a Smart Learning Society".

"ICT-Learn" is an international forum for the presentation and discussion of the recent advances and innovations in Smart Learning environments at School and on the University Level. ICT-Learn 2017 gives the opportunity for leading-edge educators, developers, researchers, experts to meat, interact and exchange ideas in topics related to different topics related to the Smart Learning society. The primary focus of ICT-Learn 2017 is on new and innovative applications of technology-enabled education in Schools and Universities around the world. 

The three studies were presented by the UL scientists, namely, Rita Birziņa, Tamāra Pīgozne and Irina Maslo "The role of educational technology in teaching and learning of Science", Rita Birziņa "Massive open online courses (MOOCs) – how do they engage higher education students and lecturers?",  Ieva Margeviča-Grinberga and Egija Laganovska "Development directions in the education of Special education teachers in Latvia".
